Sunnydene Spring Ball was held on Friday 18 September.
There are seven satellite units at:
The satellite units are staffed by Sunnydene School, the students in them are enrolled in Sunnydene School and they are supported in every way by the management and staff at Sunnydene School, but they are situated in a mainstream school.
Sunnydene has an enrolment of 60 to 70 students. With small classes we are able to cater for the individual needs of the students, many of whom require one-on-one attention.
Four classes are located at the base school on Smallfield Avenue in Mt Roskill. This includes the house, which is really the section behind the base school. A group of our senior students use the House as their classroom. The other classrooms are in satellite units at May Road School, Balmoral School, Dominion Road School and Onehunga High School.
Mainstreaming occurs within the satellite school system where the students generally mix with children of their age during playtimes and assemblies. In addition to this, some students attend specific classes within the host schools along with a teacher aide. The satellite classes attend assemblies and other "whole school" events at their host schools. The satellite units at May Road , Dominion Road and Balmoral intermediate have custom-made and designed, fenced playgrounds. These give a safe area for those students who require it.
